Mr. Max Wassel will take over as the Head Football Coach following the retirement of Coach Chet Parlavecchio. Coach Wassel has plenty of coaching experience, including coaching the Freshmen Football Team in 2017, serving as Assistant Football Coach for the past two years, and being Assistant Baseball Coach for the last three.Mr. Max Wassel on Signing Day during his high school career; property of Max Wassel

Coach Wassel has a positive mindset heading into his new position, confident that he and his team can live up to the legacy of those who played and coached before him. "There have been many great teams at PV," said Coach Wassel. "But my staff and I are going to do everything possible to make this team the best they can possibly be."

Having coached under Coach Parlavecchio, Coach Wassel will utilize some of the same practices and philosophies. "Coach Parlavecchio was always big on the offseason weightlifting program," noted Coach Wassel. "That's something that we need to continue to do in order to get better."

Coach Wassel believes this team has what it takes to be great: "I think this team has a lot of potential and having these juniors [seniors by the start of the 2020 season] as freshman while I was the Freshman Coach, helps me in that I already know and have experience leading all of these athletes."

As any great coach, Coach Wassel recognizes that high school sports is about more than just winning. "My main goal would be helping these young men not only become better football players, but young gentlemen and instilling values in them that will last a lifetime."
