PV Theater Takes Home Five Awards at Bucks County; Nominated for Eight More at Montclair State Foxy Awards Night
This year has been another successful one for Passaic Valley Theater, receiving various recognitions as the awards season begins. On April 4th, it was announced that PV was nominated for eight awards at the Montclair State University (MSU) Foxy Awards, held on May 16th. Furthermore, PV Theater won five awards at the Buck County Playhouse Theater Festival on April 29th.

"Blown Away with STEAM": Ms. Czepiel's 3D Design Classes Explore Glass Arts
On April 12, Ms. Corine Czepiel’s 3D Design and Advanced 3D Honors classes visited GlassRoots, a “non-profit, glass arts education studio” in Newark, New Jersey. The trip was funded by the Passaic Valley Education Foundation’s mini grant, “Blown Away with STEAM.”

On May 13th, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of PV Environmental Club and Interact Club students with environmental ambitions set out to make Passaic Valley a little bit more beautiful and a little bit cleaner, one piece of litter at a time.

Valley Echo Goes Behind the Scenes With Cast Members of Chicago, Premiering May 12th
On May 12, 2022, PV's production of the jazz musical, Chicago, will have its first showing in the Schneider Auditorium with students from the Theater Department portraying iconic Chicago characters like Velma Kelly, Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn. With debut day quickly approaching, cast members have begun on-stage rehearsals for a performance unlike any seen on the PV stage.

The Teen Center hosted many activities and programs during March and April to help students socialize, express themselves, and prepare themselves for the world outside of school. Many more programs are planned for May and beyond.

"La Gringa" Honored as Best Play by Speech and Theater Association of New Jersey
Passaic Valley’s Fall Play, La Gringa, won Best Play by STANJ (Speech and Theatre Association of New Jersey) on February 12th. The cast received a trophy and held a private pizza party hosted by Superintendent Mr. Bracken Healy to celebrate their title.

New Multicultural Club Fosters Greater Cultural Awareness
Mr. Nelson Colon started the Multicultural Club to provide a space for members to discuss different topics about each other's cultures in an effort to raise cultural awareness. Topics such as games, music, movies, food, and literature are just a handful of themes the club plans to explore.

68 Percent of Seniors Dash Into Early College Application Submissions for the ‘Application Marathon’
The Application Marathon encouraged seniors to apply to colleges before winter break and participating students of the team with the highest percentage won $15 gift cards to Dunkin Donuts.

Passaic Valley hosted Paint Night on Wednesday, December 15th and Thursday, December 16th. Superintendent Mr. Bracken Healy believes that it is important for students “to be a part of the positive culture we are trying to build here at PV.”

Performing Arts Spreads Holiday Cheer Through Winter Concert and Stage Elf Jr
Passaic Valley’s Drama Club and Music Department were hard at work preparing for the Winter Musical, Elf Jr. and the annual Winter Concert in the weeks leading up to Winter Break. The cast of Elf Jr. performed on December 13th and 14th and PV’s Concert Band and Choir performed on December 21st.

Senior Friend Group Organizes Winter Clothing Drive
Seniors Sophia Bermudez, Magdalena Velkoska, Jordan Newbury, and Brianna Eppler organized a clothing drive for those in need this holiday season. Through November 30th, they collected gently used winter clothing for women and children, donating them to the nonprofit organization Oasis.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, Passaic Valley Summer Theater (PVST) cancelled their highly anticipated mainstage play Beauty and The Beast and their junior production Moana. In response, PVST cast and crew decided on an entirely original idea, filming a documentary called Ghost Light.

Sam Droney's Photography Selected for Fresh Perspectives 2020
Film Photography student Sam Droney’s photograph was selected for the 2020 Fresh Perspectives art exhibit. Photography Teacher Ms. Melanie Vasa was pleased to hear the news as being accepted is an impressive achievement. “I am so happy for Sam. He is a wonderful person and deserves this,” Ms. Vasa said.

NAHS Collects 20 Grocery Bags Worth of Goods During Soup-er Bowl Food Drive
Throughout the month of January, the National Art Honor Society collected 20 grocery bags worth of canned goods, which were then donated to the Human Needs Food Pantry, in their eighth annual Soup-er Bowl Canned Food Drive.
